Pitch-side First Aid

What is Pitch-side
First Aid?

Pitch-side First Aid is the treatment of athletes that are injured during a sporting event. It is where a member or members of the medical team will come onto the pitch or track to attend to the injured athlete. On assessing the situation they will administer the appropriate First Aid to the injured athlete and either return the athlete back to the sporting activity or remove for substitution depending on severity of injury.

The importance of Pitch-side First Aid

A quick and effective response from a Sports First Aider can make a huge difference and impact on the athlete’s ability to recover from injury. It permits the health professional to recognise injuries that may require appropriate or immediate action. On occasions this may also necessitate the need for early referral to other health professionals beyond Pitch-side First Aid.

His knowledge of anatomy was incredible. ...The pain I experienced disappeared almost instantly after I left the treatment room and has been a lot better since... Thanks Nick!
